Antonia Ivanova (1931-25.05.2004), Bulgarian Woman Grandmaster who won 6 Bulgarian Women championships.
Anatoly Machulsky (1956), Russian Grandmaster who made a fortune after creating a betting company.
John Donaldson (1958), American International Master who was the coach of the US team which won the gold at the 2016 Olympiad.
Raj Tischbierek (1962), German Grandmaster and journalist who was twice the East German champion.
Lars Bo Hansen (1968) Danish Grandmaster who won two national titles.

DEATHS

Rosendo Balinas (10.09.1941-1998), Filipino Grandmaster, lawyer, a chess writer and journalist. He was considered as the strongest Asian player during the 1960s and early 1970s,
Konstantin Lerner (28.02.1950-2011), Israeli Grandmaster born in Ukraine. Ukrainian Champion and USSR vice-Champion in 1986.

CHESS EVENTS

1911. Czechoslovakia, one of the largest round robin tournament in the chess history organized at Carlsbad ended with the victory of R. Teichmann ahead of A. Rubinstein and K. Schlechter. The event attracted 26 contestants who played 325 games. 
1956
In Moscow, once again the Soviet Union proved its superiority and won the 12th Olympiad with 31/44. Yugoslavia finished second after tiebreak.
2000 IM O. Cherikov from Russia won the World Senior Championship. Ms. Fatalibekova from Russia won the Women’s World Senior Championship.
