Frantisek Zita (1909-01.10.1070), a Czech International Master who played few Olympiads and won an individual silver medal at Buenos Aires 1939.
Burkhard Malich (1936), a German Grandmaster born in Poland who won twice the East German championships.
Lev Psakhis (1958), an Israeli Grandmaster, coach and author born in Russia.  was born in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. He was Soviet Champion in 1980 and 1981 and Israeli Champion in 1997.
Igor Koniushkov (1962), a Russian Grandmaster who is not active since 2000.
Sapar Batyrov (1967), a Turkmenistan Grandmaster who is not active since 2009.
Monica Calzetta (1972), a Spanish Woman Grandmaster who won seven times the Spanish women’s championship.
Jan Votava was born, a Czech Grandmaster who was Czech Champion in 1996.
Vaszilij Sikula (1981), an Ukrainian Grandmaster.

DEATHS

Arthur Reynolds (30.04.1910-1943),  An English player who, during WWII, was a POW on the Japanese cargo ship Suez Maru (an enemy ship) when it was torpedoed by the US submarine “Bonefish”. After the Suez Maru sank there were 200 to 250 POW’s in the water. A Japanese minesweeper that was with the Suez Maru then was ordered to execute the POW’s in the water. Some historians believe Reynolds perished in the massacre.
Robert (Bob) Wade (10.04.1921-2008), a New Zealand and British International Master, writer, International Arbiter, coach, and promoter. He was New Zealand champion three times and British champion twice,
