BIRTHS

Aaron Alexandre (1768-1850),  a Jewish German–French–English chess player, Rabbi, and writer.
Alexey Suetin (1926-10.09.2001), an Ukraine Grandmaster who was the World Senior Champion in 1996.
Herman Mattison (1894-1932), a Latvian Master, a composer of endgame studies. He died of tuberculosis at the age of 38.
Karel Opocensky (17.02.1892-1975), a Czech Grandmaster who was four-time Czech Champion.
