Orestes Rodriguez Vargas (1943), was born in Lima, Peru. a Peruvian Grandmaster who was Peruvian national champion five times.
Silvino Garcia Martinez was born in Havana, Cuba (1944), the first Cuban Grandmaster who was Cuban national champion four times.David Marciano (1969), a Monegasque-French Grandmaster.
Svetlana Matveeva (1969) was born, Russia. a Russian International Master and Woman Grandmaster.
Alexey Shirov was born in Riga, Latvia, USSR. a Latvian -Spanish Grandmaster,  one of the world leading player between 1995 and 2005.

DEATHS

Leonid Stein (12.11.1934-1973), Soviet Grandmaster chess player born in Ukraine who won three USSR Chess Championships in 1963, 1965, and 1966), and was among the world’s top ten players during that era.
Miguel Najdorf (15.04.1910-1997), an Argentine Polish-born Grandmaster and author who was the best South American player for few decades.
