Franz Drobny 1863-28.12.1924), an Austrian player and chess composer.
Josef Kling (19.03.1811-1876), a British Master and chess composer born in Germany.
Semyen Furman (1920-17.03.1978), a Soviet Grandmaster and trainer. He was the main coach of Anatoly Karpov for many years.
Milunka Lazarevic (1932), a Serbian Woman Grandmaster who won 11 times the Yugoslav Woman Championship.
Bertus F. Enklaar (1943-03.10.1996), a Dutch International Master.
Menachem Orem (Mieczyslaw Chwojnik 1903-1962), an Israeli Master born in Poland who won the Israeli championship in 1951.
Dimitri Komarov (1968), an Ukrainian Grandmaster and coach.

Paul Farago (04.04.1886-1970), a Romanian chess composer.
Grigory Goldberg (22.07.1908-1976), a Soviet Master who was Botvinnik’s second for his World Championship matches in the 1950’s.

CHESS EVENTS

1877 In New York,  37 players showed up for the first meeting of the Manhattan Chess Club. The entrance fee was $1 per person and the dues were $4 per year. The address was Cafe Logeling, 49 Bowery Street, Manhattan NY.
1985 In Dubai, the first Arab Junior Championship was won by Boudiba from Algeria.
1990 The FIDE GA approved the description of the FIDE Motto, seal, and flag. The FIDE Motto is “Gens Una Sumus”.
2012 The 27-year-old Ukrainian Anna Ushenina emerged as the 14th World Champion. Ushenina won the second rapid play game in the final against former champion (2004-6) Antoaneta Stefanova of Bulgaria.
2014 FIDE published the first Anti-Cheating Guidelines prepared by the FIDE/ACP Anti-Cheating Committee approved by the FIDE Presidential Board.
