1975 At 11:00 GMT FIDE issued the following statement: “Following yesterday’s statement, FIDE President Max Euwe this morning at 11 am not having received a cable from Fischer, had to declare the World Champion not available per article 2.3 of the Regulations for the match for the Men’s World Championship. In accordance with article 2.3 of the Regulations, FIDE President Euwe formally declared the Challenger, grandmaster Anatoly Karpov, the World Champion 1975”.
