Miron James Hazeltime (1824-24.02.1907),  an American journalist and chess composer.
Paul Saladin Leonhardt (1877-14.12.1934), a German Master who died of a heart attack during a game of chess.
Bukhuty Gurgenidze (1933-24.05.2008), a Georgian Grandmaster who won 12 Georgian championships.
Jon Arnason (1960), an Icelandic Grandmaster who was three-time the national champion.
George Gabriel Grigore (1970), a Romanian Grandmaster who played two Olympiads.

DEATHS

Giancarlo dal Verme (11.05.1908-1985), an Italian player and FIDE officer who composed the FIDE anthem in 1952.
Volf Bergraser (04.01.1904-1986), a French Correspondence Grandmaster (1981) and strong OTB player. A doctor. He won the French chess championship (OTB) in 1957 and 1966.
Igor Platonov (18.01.1934-1994), a Soviet Grandmaster (not FIDE) and coach. He was murdered in his Kiev apartment by two thieves.

WORLD EVENTS

2015 A set of coordinated terror attacks in Paris, France including multiple shootings, explosions, and a hostage crisis in the 10th arrondissement of Paris and the 11th arrondissement of Paris kill 130 people, seven attackers, and injured 368 others, with at least 80 critically wounded.
