Joint British U18 Champion in 1966, British Vice Champion in 1975 and once finished fourth in the European Junior Championship. He moved to live in Sweden where he played in several national championships and remained active as a correspondence player throughout his life. He also played bridge internationally.
He died in the most tragic of circumstances, reportedly killed by his own disturbed adult son at his home in Sweden.
