Vukovic, Vladimir (26.08.1896 – 18.11.1975)
Croatian International Master (1952) and International Arbiter (1951).
He was one of the organisers of the chess movements in Yugoslavia. Also was known as a chess writer.
During 1925-29 and 1935-37, he was editor of the magazine Sahovski Glasnik and from 1953 to 1968,Yugoslovensky Sahovsky Glasnik.
In the first Yugoslavian championship in 1921, he finished in the third place and became a member of the Yugoslav team in the Olympiads of 1927 and 1936.
In the early 1920s, he was successful in the following international tournaments: Vienna 1921, 4th-7th; Vienna 1922, 10th-11th; Gjor 1924 and Debrecen 1925, 4th-5th.
An outstanding author; his major works were: The Art of Attack in Chess (1956) and The Chess Sacrifice (1968), and a work on world championship matches with Od Steinitza do Botvinika.
