Italian International Master (1966) with Hungarian origins. Italian Champion in 1962, 1965, 1967, 1970, 1971, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1981, 1979, 1983, 1985, 1990, 1991 and 1996. He was the strongest Italian player until Mariotti’s achievement in the 1970s. Best results: Reggio Emilia 1965-66, 3rd; Venice 1966, 3rd; Malaga 1967, 3rd; Amsterdam IBM II 1968, 1st; Olot 1968, 3rd; Venice 1969, 2nd; Monte Carlo 1969, 1st; Malaga 1970, 2nd; Amsterdam IBM II 1976, 1st. Barcelona 1979 and 1980, Bratto 1982, Dubai 1984 and Rome 1984, 1st. He participated since 1966 in the Olympiads many times at board 1. Best ELO: 2495 in 1981.
