Sutovsky Emil (19-09-1977)

SutovskyIsraeli Grandmaster born in Azerbaijan who moved to Israel in 1991. MBA. Coached by A. Greenfeld.
European Champion in 2001.
ACP President (2012-2019), FIDE General Director since 2018.
Emil started chess at the age of 5 and showed immediately some good inclination for the game with the victories at the World U18, at the European U20 in 1995, and then at the World Junior Championship in 1996.

Best results: winner at Hoogoven VAM 1997, Buenos Aires 1997, Essen 1999, Hastings 2000, Isle of Man 1998 and 1999, Gibraltar and Aeroflot Open 2005, Ashdod Open 2006, Inventi Chess Tournament in Antwerp 2009, Biel Masters Open Tournament in 2015, Nona 75 – ACP Open in Tbilisi in 2016 and Karpov Tournament in Poikovsky in 2017.

A member of the national team since 1996.

Except for chess, Emil is a prolific bass-baritone, and he has performed in a number of concerts (once, together with Smyslov!).

Another of Emil’s hobbies is trivia games. In 2005, Sutovsky shared the first-third places in the Israeli Trivia Championship!
