Suetin Alexey Stepanovich (06.11.1926 – 10.09.2001)

Russian Grandmaster (1965), author, TV commentator, journalist and coach of Tigran Petrosian during the period of 1963-71 and 1979-80. World Seniors Champion in 1996. Honored Trainer of the Russian Federation.

He played in ten Soviet Championships in the years 1950-67, finishing equal fourth in 1963 and 1965.

The author of a dozen books published in German and in English like Modern Chess Opening Theory, A Contemporary Approach to the Middlegame and Three Steps to Chess Mastery.

Peak rating: 2560 in 1971.

Suetin died of a heart attack at the age of 74 during the Russian Seniors championship.
