Argentinian Grandmaster. Silver and bronze medal at the World U20 Championship in 1994 and 1995. Champion of Argentina in 1993 and vice champion in 1996. Received three gold medals for the best score at the World U26 Team Championship in 1997 and two gold for being a member of the winning team at the World U26 in 1993 and 1997. Best results: Nadjdorf Open 1993, 1st; San Martin Open 1995, 1st-2nd; Villa Geisell (ARG) 1996, 1st-2nd; Clarin 1997, 2nd-3rd; Najdorf Memorial 1997, 3rd; AMEBS La Plate 1998,1st-3rd; Najdorf Memorial 2002, 1st. A participant in the Olympiads from 1994 until 1998. Spangenberg has been playing competitive backgammon for some years. Best ELO: 2565 in 1997.
