Smejkal Jan (22.03.1946)

Czech Grandmaster (1972). A mathematician by profession. Czech Youth Championship in 1961 and Czech Champion of 1973, 1979 and 1986.

A member of the national team in the Olympiads from 1968-88, he participated in few Zonal an Interzonal tournaments with some good results like he tied for the second-fifth places in Raahe in 1969, first-second in Vrnjacka Banja 1972, first-third in Aranzhelovatz 1976 and fourth in Leningrad Interzonal in 1973.
