Best results in the international tournaments: Mar del Plata 1956, 3rd-4th; 1958, 3rd-5th; 1968, 3rd; and 1976, 1st-2nd; Sao Paolo 1957, 1st; Lima 1959, 3rd-5th; Buenos Aires 1963 and 1977, 1st; Winnipeg 1974, 2nd; Santos-Lugares 1978, 1st.
From 1956 until 1976, he participated in few Olympiads. He was awarded a gold medal for the best performance of 9 points out of 11 at board 5, and in 1962, he was rewarded with the same medal for a result of 13½ points out of 16 at board 4.
Sanguinetti has participated in FIDE Zonals and Interzonals with diverse fortunes. In Rio de Janeiro in 1957, he achieved second-third, and also shared first in Fortaleza in 1975; in Portoroz in 1958, he finished in the fourteenth place and in Biel 1976, in the sixteenth place.
