Rowson-JonathanScottish Grandmaster (1999). Vice European U18 Champion in 1995 and U20 in 1997. British Champion in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Scottish Champion in 1999, 2001 and 2004. Graduated of Oxford University in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.

Best results: won or shared first in Newcastle Masters 1995, Danish Junior Open 1996, Canadian Open 2000, World Open 2002, Pula Open 2002, Hastings 2003-04, Edinburgh 2004, Capo d’Orso Open 2008. Also second in Rilton Cup 2001-02 and Reykjavik Open 2002.

In matches, he beat Keith Arkell 4-2 in 1996, Hillarp Persson 4½-1½ in 1997, lost to Julian Hodgson 3½-2½ in 1997 and to Michael Adams 5-1 in 1998. A participant in the Olympiads of 1996 and 2000, 2002 and 2004 at board 1.
