Rogers smlThe first Australian Grandmaster (1985). Journalist, he shares his residence between Australia and Holland. Graduated in meteorology from the University of Melbourne. Four times Australian Champion (1980, 1986, 1998 and 2006), NZL Champion in 1997 and 1999.

Best results: Mendrisio 1988, 1st; Groningen Open 1988, 1989 and 1990, 1st; Budapest GM 1991, 1st; Jakarta Zonal 1993, 1st; Biel Credit 1996, 1st; Gold Coast Open (AUS) 1995 and 1999, 1st; Seeburg Open 1999, 1st; Asian Championship 2001, 1st; Bangkok Open 2004 and 2005, 1st-3rd.

Rogers was a participant in 13 Olympiads.

His wife Cathy is a well- known photographer, journalist, and WFM titled. Due to health concerns, he retired from chess in 2007.
