German International Correspondence Grandmaster (1961) and International Arbiter born in Breslau. A former banker.

Correspondence World Champion 1971-75. ICCF Vice-President (1961-91). ICCF Honourary Member (1979). German Correspondence Champion in 1956.

From 1965 until 1992, he was chief editor of the East German chess magazine SCHACH. He was the first player to achieve the record of 10 ICCF Grandmaster norms.
