U.S. Grandmaster (2004) born in Costa Rica. International Master at 13 and one of the youngest world Grandmasters at age 15. The first Grandmaster of Central America. Alejandro is presently studying at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) under a McDermott scholarship, one of the most prestigious academic scholarships in the United States.

A participant in the Olympiads between 2002 and 2008 and in the 2004 World Championship.

Peak rating: 2600 in 2014, since 2011 he is listed as a U.S. Grandmaster.
