Yugoslav-Croatian International Master (1950), Yugoslav Champion in 1951 and Vice-Champion in 1953.
Rabar was a member of the national team who won the gold medal at the Dubrovnik Olympiad in 1950 and of the team which won the first Balkaniad in 1946. In total he won five team and individual medals. Also a participant in the Olympiads of 1952 and 1954.
Rabar was the author of the classification of the opening used in Chess Informant and coedited the monthly chess magazine Šahovski Glasnik.
