Quinteros Miguel Angel (28.12.1947)

Quinteros-Miguel-AngelArgentinean Grandmaster (1973). In 1966 at the age of 18 he became the youngest player to win the Nation’s Championship. Because of breaking a FIDE rule, Quinteros was barred from playing in FIDE events for three years, so he went to play in South Africa.

Best results: Nis 1970, 1st; Sao Polo 1972, 1st; Wijk aan Zee II 1973, 1st; Torremolinos 1973, 1st; Bauang 1973, 2nd; Lanzarote 1974, 1st; Orense 1975, 4th; London 1977, 2nd; Djakarta 1978, 1st; Wellington 1978, 1st; Moron Zonal Tournament 1982, 1st; New York 1983, 2nd; Netanya 1983, 2nd; Baden-Baden 1985, 3rd.

A participant in 6 Olympiads between 1970 and 1984, he was awarded a silver medal for the second best result on board 3 at the 1976 Olympiad. Not active anymore but he is still organizing chess tournaments in Argentina. As a chess organizer, he promoted the 2005 World Championship in San Luis.
