Slovenian Grandmaster (Honarary Grandndmaster, 1984). Slovenian Champion in 1958, 1965 and 1967. He was close to winning the Yugoslavian championship on three occasions.
Best results: won or shared first at Vienna 1949, Dortmund 1951, Sarajevo 1957 and 1960. Also second at Polanica Zdroj and Montilla 1973, second-third at Manila 1975 and third at Havana in 1982.
A member of the Yugoslavian national team which won the 1950 Olympiad.
