Pritchard Elaine (07.01.1926 – 07.01.2012)

Pritchard-ElaineEnglish Women’s International Master (1957). A celebrated prodigy in the 1930s. Girls’ World Champion in 1936 and 1937 and four times Women’s British Champion in 1939, 1946, 1956 and 1965. Winner of a team silver medal at the 1976 Women Olympiad.

The Author of Chess for Pleasure (1971). In 1952 she married the chess writer David Brine Pritchard who died in 2005.
