Porath Yosef (07.06.1909 – 08.05.1996)

Israeli International Master (1952) born in Poland.

In 1934 he emigrated to Palestine where he won the Palestine championship in 1937 and 1940. After the war, he won four times the Israeli championship in 1953, 1957, 1959 and 1963. Porath was the winner of the Zonal Tournament in Ulan-Bator in 1964, his best chess result.

A participant in Olympiad in 1927 with Germany, in 1935 and 1939 with Palestine and between 1952 and 1968 with Israel. At the 1939 Olympiad, he was awarded an individual gold medal for the best result on board two.
