Best results: won or shared first at London NWYM 1984 and 1985, Bayswater WFW 1986 and 1988, Lugano Open 1988, Marseilles Open 1989, Calcutta Open 1992 and second at Toronto GM 1989, British Championship 1989 and Oakham YM 1990.

The author of Developments in the Modern Benoni 1983-1986 (1987), Advanced Chess (1991), Trends in King’s Indian Attack (1991), Winning with the Modern (1994), The Modern Benoni (1984), Steve Davis plays Chess (co-authored with Steve Davis, 1995). Telegraph of London columnist for few years.
