Czech Grandmaster (2002). European Blitz Champion in 2014. The best Czech player since 2002. The national champion in 2004, 2005, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019. Silver medalist at the World U14 in 1998, Bronze medalist at the World U10 in 1997.
David Navara successfully passed exams at four universities and decided to study the Logic on the Philosophical Faculty of the Charles University in Prague.

In matches, he beat Viktor Korchnoi 1½-½ in 2003 and Nigel Short 4½-1½ in 2007, drew with Anatoly Karpov 1-1 in 2005 with Boris Gelfand 2-2 in 2006, and with You Yifan 2_2 in 2013 then lost to Alexander Morozevich 4-2, Vladimir Kramnik 5½-2½ in 2008, Vasily Ivanchuk,  2½-5½ in 2009, Judith Polgar 2-6 in 2010, Peter Svidler 1-3 in 2012, Hiraku Nakamura ½-3½ in 2014, Wesley So 1-3 in 2015, Richard Rapport 1½-2½ in 2016, Vassily Ivanchuk 3.5-6.5 in 2017, Pentala Harikrishna 5-7 in 2018 and Ding Liren 3-7 in 2019.
