U.S. Grandmaster (2003) born in Japan. FIDE World Fischer Random Chess Champion 2019. U.S. Champion in 2005, 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2019. U.S. Junior Champion in 2001.
Nakamura learned chess since he was seven years old. Silver medalist in World U12 in 2001. Bronze medalist in the American Continental Championship in 2003. The same year Nakamura became the youngest American grandmaster ever at age 15 and 79 days breaking by three months the record of Bobby Fischer for the youngest American to have claimed the GM title, surpassed only by Fabiano Caruana (world highest world-rated U16 who moved later under the Italian flag) and Ray Robson.
