Frederic Lazard (28.02.1883-1948), a French Master, problemist and journalist.
Vladimir Vukovic (26.08.1898-1975), a Croatian chess writer, theoretician, player, arbiter, and journalist.Yugoslavia played for Yugoslavia on second board in the 1st Chess Olympiad at London 1927.
Elena Donaldson-Akhmilovskaya (11.03.1957-2012), a Russian-American Woman Grandmaster  who played a match against Maia Chiburdanidze for the Women’s World Chess Championship 1986, but lost by 8½–5½.

CHESS EVENTS

1981 Itay, Anatoly Karpov retains his title of World Champion after winning the 18th game and defeating Viktor Korchnoi in Merano (6-2).

Opening of the 26th Olympiad in Thessaloniki, Greece, with 88 countries participating.
2010 In Moscow, Levon Aronian (ARM) became the World Blitz Champion ahead of Teimour Radjabov (AZE) and Magnus Carlsen (NOR).
