Gustavus Pfeiffer (1872-22.08.1953), American businessman and philanthropist who donated his entire collection of chessmen to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York ( 1952/53) and over a hundred chess books to the NY. Public Library.
Rudolf Swiderski (1878-02.08.1902), German Master who won the Munich Haupttunier in 1900. Swiderski suffered ill-health and took his own life.
Marcel Duchamp (1887-02.10.1968) French player and a renowned painter.
Pieter Ten Cate (1902-27.06.1996), Dutch composer and International Master who composed 1300 problems.
Gavriil Veresov (1912-12.11.1979), Soviet International Master who few times Belarus champion. He is mostly recognised today for the opening that bears his name.
Marcel Sisniega Campbell (1959-19.01.2013), the first Mexican Grandmaster and film director.

CHESS EVENTS
1927 28.07 The FIDE GA admitted Latvia, Portugal, Poland, Uruguay as full members. Also admitted a new unity representing the United States and the Spanish CF which replaced the Catalan CF.
1927 The FIDE GA agreed to award the winner of the Olympiad tournaments with a cup donated by The Honourable.Frederick Gustavus Hamilton Russell.
1927 The FIDE GA decided to grant the title of FIDE Master to all winners of FIDE tournaments or any tournaments organized under the auspices of FIDE.
