Xavier Tartakower (1887), a French born-Polish and Grandmaster. He was also a leading chess journalist and author.
Eero Book (1910-25.09.2008), a Finnish Grandmaster who was a five-time Finnish champion.
Nino Kirov (1945), a Bulgarian who was Bulgarian Champion in 1978.
Boris Gulko (1947), an American born-Soviet Grandmaster who is the only one to win both the Soviet Chess Championship and the U.S. Chess Championship.
Pablo San Segundo Carrillo (1970), a Spanish Grandmaster
Ekaterina Korbut (1985) a Russian International Master and Woman Grandmaster who won the World Junior Chess Championship (Girls) in 2004, and the Russian women’s championship in 2006 then left chess in 2008.
Parimarjan Negi (1993) an Indian who became a Grandmaster at the age of 13 years and 142 days and Indian Champion in 2010.
Andre Diamant (1990), a Brazilian Grandmaster who won the Brazilian Championship in 2008 and 2009.
Giorgi Margvelashvili (1990), a Georgian Grandmaster.
Konstantin Tarlev (1987) a Ukrainian Grandmaster.

DEATHS

Cecil de Vere (Valentine Brown- 24.02.1845-1875), British Master who was the first winner of the official British Championship in 1866.
Grigory Levenfish (21.03.1889-1961), a Soviet Grandmaster who was twice Soviet Champion in 1924 and 1937. Capablanca said in 1936:”I think he is the strongest in USSR after Botvinnik.”
