Horatio Caro (05.07.1862-1920), English born-German player who was the first to analyze the position e4-c6 later named Caro-Kann opening.
Gersz Salwe (12.12.1862-1920) a Polish Master who became famous after winning the All-Russian Masters’ Tournament, 4th RUS-chin 1906.
Adolf Fink (19.07.1890-1956), an American composer and player.
Enrico Paoli (13.01.1908-2005), an Italian Honorary Grandmaster and organizer of the famous Reggio Emilia Tournament.

CHESS EVENTS

1935 Max Euwe defeated Alexander Alekhine 15½-14½ and became the new World Champion. After the match, Alekhine who had psychological problems due to alcoholism asked for a revenge match.
1993 The first European Youth Rapid Chess tournament for Under-14 and Under-12, sponsored by Disney France was organized in Paris.
