William Evans (27.01.1790 –1872) English chess amateur, seafearer, and an inventor. He is known to be the creator of the Evans Gambit (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.b4).
Wolfgang Heidenfeld (29.05.1911-1981), South African International Master born in Germany who was many times Irish and South African Champions.
