Andreas Duckstein (1927) Austrian International Master born in Budapest. Thrice Austrian Champion (1954, 1956, 1977).
Puig Laborda Jorge 02.08 1928 1989 Spanish-Catalan chess amateur who create the AIPE and the Chess Oscar in 1967.
Yakov Murey (1941), Israeli Grandmaster born in Moscow and currently living in France. European Senior Champion in 2001 and was the second of V. Korchnoi at the World Championship Match  in 1978.
Georg Siegel (1962-07.12.2010), German Grandmaster who sadly drowned in Freiburg, in 2010. His body was never found.
Vladimir Belikov (1971), Russian Gradmaster who was Army Champion in 1995.
Georgi Castaneda, (1976), Peruvian Grandmaster, not active anymore.

DEATHS

Johann Breuer (07.01.1903-1981), German chess composer.
Kushnir Alla (11.02. 1941- 2013) Israeli Women Grandmaster who was  Women’s World Championship Challenger in 1965, 1969 and 1972. She was also USSR Women’s Champion in 1970  before moving to Israel in 1973.

CHESS EVENTS

1960 The USA team (Mombardy, Kalme, Weinstein, Saidy, Mednis, Hearst) beat the USSR for the gold at the 7^th World Student Team Championship in Leningrad, USSR.
1964 The team of USSR ( Pelts, Khodos, Savon, Mnatsakanian, Antoshin, Kapengut) won the 11^th World Student Team Championship in Krakow, Poland.
2009 In Sao Polo, Brazil, Alexander Shabalov (USA) and Jimenez Fidel Corrales (CUB) shared first at the American Continental Chess Championship.

1776 The signing of the United States Declaration of Independence took place.
