Fritz Gygli (11.1896-1980) a Swiss Master who was Swiss Champion in 1941 and a participant at three Olympiad before WWII.
Heikki Markku Julius Westerinen (1944), Finnish Grandmaster who won 4 Finnish Championships and participated in 19 Olympiads.
Gennady Timoschenko (1949), Slovakian Grandmaster and FIDE Senior Trainer born in Russia who was a coach of Garry Kasparov for some time in the 1980’s.
Darius Ruzele, Darius (1968), Lithuanian Grandmaster who was the national champion in 1988 but doesn’t play anymore.
Pavel Smirnov (1982), Russian who became the University World Chess Championship in 2004.
Zoja Severiukhina (1990), a Russian Woman Grandmaster.

DEATH

William Jones (1746-1794), and English historian of chess, orientalist and a poet. The name of his first poem was Caissa.

CHESS EVENTS

1921 Cuba. The World Championship Match E. Lasker-JR. Capablanca is at his end with a score of 9-5 in favor of the Cuban. JR Capablanca is crowned World Champion. He won the 14th and last game on April 21. On 27th Lasker announced his resignation due to bad health.
1957 USSR.  Leading after the first game at the World Championship in Moscow, Vassily Smyslov didn’t allow Mikhail Botvinnik to make a come-back. Vassily Smyslov won the match 6-3 and 13 draws and became the seventh World Champion.
1965 Candidates Quarterfinal in Moscow, Efim Geller USSR – Vasily Smyslov USSR ended 5½-2½.
