Polish Grandmaster. Polish Champion in 1993, 1998, 1999, 2003 and 2007. Polish U15 Champion in 1990. In 2000 he won a bronze medal at the European Individual Chess Championship.
Best results: won or shared first in Katowice Open, Geneva Open 1995, Polanica Zdroj 1999, Aeroflot Open 2004, Pfalz Open 2008, Najdorf Memorial 2011. Also second in Badalona Open in 2010.
Markowski is playing regularly for the national team since 1994.
