German Champion in 1993, 2002 and 2006. Professional since 1988. Luther was a member of the German national team which won a silver medal at the 2000 Olympiad. In 2011, he won the first World Chess Games for Disabled with a perfect score of 7 out of 7.
Best results: winner in Lippstadt 1994, Hastings 1995, Nova Gorica 2000, LGA Premium Chess Cup in Nürnberg 2009. Second behind Korchnoi at the Zonal 2.1 in 1995.
A participant in the World Chess Championship in 1997 and in four Olympiads between 1998 and 2006 with Germany.
Since 2010, he plays occasionally he played board one of the IPCA team at the Olympiad and he is the head of the FIDE Commission on Disabled.
