Linde Anthonius Van Der (14.11.1833 – 13.08.1897)
German writer and historian born in Harlem (Netherlands) who lived in Germany.
The author of famous works in chess history, he made an extensive study of the evolution of the game of chess in Europe and in the East. The owner of the largest European chess library which was sold for £3,000 to the Royal Library of The Hague.
Three works were published: “Geschichte und Literatur des Schachspiels” (1874-75), “Das erste Jahrtausand des Schachspiels” (1880) and “Quellenstudien zur Geschichte des Schachspiels” (1881).
