Lim Kok An Dr. (27.01.1920 – 08.03.2003)

Lim-Kok-An-Dr.Dr. Lim was a chess master and three times chess champion of Singapore (1949, 1960 and 1968). General Secretary-General of FIDE from 1982 to 1988, he ruled the World Chess Federation with an iron fist. Medical Doctor. Dr. Lim was dean of the medical faculty at the University of Singapore and headed what became the Microbiology Department there until he retired in 1980. He was Singapore’s first chess champion when the national championships were inaugurated in 1949. He established the Singapore Chess Federation, which he headed for 18 years.
