Lein Anatoly Yakovienich (28.03.1931-01.03.2018)

Soviet-born American Grandmaster (1968). In 1976, Lein emigrated to the United States.

Best results: Winner in Sarajevo 1968, Moscow 1970, Moscow 1971, Cienfuegos 1972, Novi Sad 1972 and 1973, Varna 1974, Rome 1976, US Open (shared) 1976 New York 1977, Brisbane 1979, Grand Manan 1984, Berlin 1984 and Vestmannaeyjum 1985.

A member of the U.S. team who took the bronze at the 1978 Olympiad in Buenos Aires.

Author of Sharpen Your Tactics: 1125 Brilliant Sacrifices, Combinations, and Studies (1996), In the World of Tactics (1998).

In 2005 Lein was inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame (USA).
