Landau Salo (01.04.1903)

Landau-SaloDutch International Master born in Poland. Dutch Champion in 1936. He was the second best Dutch player after Max Euwe in the 1930s.

Best results: Winner in Rotterdam 1931, Amsterdam in 1936 and Amsterdam Vara in 1939. Also third in Hastings in 1938. Landau lost matches to Géza Maróczy (+0 –3 =0) in 1930, Akiba Rubinstein (+0 –3 =2) in 1931, Salo Flohr (+0 –1 =3) in 1933, Rudolf Spielmann (+1 –2 =3) in 1934, Andor Lilienthal (+1 –2 =3) in 1934 and Max Euwe three times. In 1939 he drew with Theo van Scheltinga (+3 –3 =4) and drew with László Szabo (+2 –2 =6).

A participant in the Olympiads of 1930 and 1937.

Being from Jewish origin, he and his family were murdered by the Nazis in a death camp in Poland in 1943.
