Kovalyov Anton (04.03.1992)

kovalyovCanadian Grandmaster (2008) born in Ukraine. Anton immigrated in Argentine in 1998 and since 2008 he is living in Montreal, Canada. Vice champion of Argentina in 2008. Since 2017, he is pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas.

A participant at the 2008 Olympiad with Argentina and in 2016 for Canada where he achieved the second best performance at board 2. Coached by Pablo Richardi.
A participant to the World Cup in 2015 and 2017. During the 2017 tournament, shortly before the third round, Kovalyov was instructed by the chief organizer (using an inappropriate language) to change his shorts, the same pair he had worn in the first two rounds, as apparently, he violated the dress code. In response, Kovalyov left the venue and did not return, thus forfeiting the game.
