Korolkov Vladimir Alexandrovic (07.11.1907 – 01.05.1987)

Soviet Chess Composer, International Grandmaster (1975) and International Arbiter for Chess Compositions (1956).

Since 1926 he published more 300 studies and 230 compositions of non-orthodox genres, more than 350 were marked with distinctions including 70 first prizes.

Korolkov published a study entitled “Excelsior” in 1958 in which White wins only by making six consecutive captures by a pawn.

He was the winner of the individual Correspondence USSR Championships in 1929 and 1948.
