Kishnev won Novi Sad 1987, Budapest Open 1989, Munich 1990 (shared) and Altensteig Open in 1992. In those days he was also occasionally playing league games in Germany and Belgium.

Kishnev retired from international chess in 2007. Best ELO: 2540 in 1992.
