King Daniel John (28.08.1963)

King-djEnglish Grandmaster (1989). Daniel is also a commentator on chess events, journalist, and writer.

Best results: winner at Zurich 1984, Strasbourg 1985, Kecskemet 1985, came equal fourth in the British Championship 1987 and equal fifth in London 1988 (category IX). In 1988 he won in Sydney, was equal second in Dortmund and in 1989 he was second behind Bent Larsen in WFW London. King also won the Geneva Open 1990, Calcutta Open 1992 and Staunton Memorial London in 2004.

A member of the national team at the 1989 European Team Championship.

The author of Kasparov v. Deeper Blue: The Ultimate Man v. Machine Challenge (1997), Kasparov Against the World: The Story of the Greatest Online Challenge (2000), Winning With the Najdorf (2002), How Good Is Your Chess? (2003), How To Play Chess (2009). He has also recorded popular videos under Chessbase label wherein each he discusses a typical theme in detail using the ChessBase Fritztrainer software system.
