KharlovRussian Grandmaster (1992), Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan. Kharlov was a member of the USSR team which won the World Championship U26 in 1996 and in the European Club Cup with Kazan in 1996. A second of G. Kasparov in 2000.

Best results: winner of shared firstat the Russian championship 1990, Paris Open 1991, European individual championship 2000, Goodricke Calcutta 2001, Linares Open 2003 and Aeroflot Open 2005.

A participant at the FIDE World Chess Championship 2000, where he was knocked out by Veselin Topalov in the second round. In the FIDE World Chess Championship 2004 he advanced to the fifth round, but was again knocked out by Veselin Topalov.

Peak rating: 2656 in 2001.
