Kengis Edvins (12.04.1959)
Latvian Grandmaster (1991). Kengis was the Latvian Champion in 1984, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1997, 2004, Estonian Champion 2001 and Soviet U26 Champion 1980.
Best results: winner of Riga Open 1987, Boston 1991, Arnold Cup Gaudal 1991, Swidnica 1996, Travermude Open 1997, the Goden Kleopatra in Egypt 2003, Bogny GMI 2004, Bad Worishofen, Staufer Open, Riga 2004 and also came second at the Lloyds Bank open in 1990 and third at the Abu Dhabi Open 2004.
A participant in the World Team Championship 1993 and in all Olympiads (except 2000) from 1992 until 2004.
Kengis has been almost retired from international chess since the end of 2006.
