Karaklajic Nikola (24.02.1926 – 16.12.2008)

Karaklajic-NikolaSerbian International Master (1955).  Karaklajic was an International Arbiter, coach and journalist.   He was Champion of Yugoslavia in 1955 and the winner of the Belgian Chess Federation championship in 1960.

Best results:  winner at Benedetto-del-Tronto 1958, Bognor-Ridgis 1958, 1962, 1963 and 1966, Strasbourg 1973, Casablanca 1973, London 1976, Belgrade 1976 and 1977, Marina Romea 1978, Venice 1981, Dubai 1984, Bela Crkva 1987, Biel Veteran 1987, La Valetta 1990, 1992, 1994 and 1996 and Alger in 1990.

A participant in the Olympiad of Moscow 1956, where he was awarded a silver medal for the best performance at board four. Chief Arbiter of the 1992 rematch between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky.

The author of Da te pitam (1986).

He has been national coach of Yugoslavia and Singapore. Peak rating: 2460 in 1977.
