Halberstadt Vitaly (20.03.1903 – 25.10.1967)

Halberstadt-VitalyFrench chess composer born in Odessa, International Arbiter for Chess Compositions (1957). Lawyer. He has published about 200 artistic studies and 25 problems, 20 of them were marked with first prizes in several competitions. Editor of the ending section of La Stategie, Bulletin de la FFE and Themes 64. Published in conjunction with Marcel Duchamp’s L’Opposition et cases conjugees (1932), Curiosites Tactiques des Finales (1954), an annotated selection of his best work. OTB player, he won the first championship of Paris in 1925.
