Gurvich Abraham Solomonovich (12.02.1897 – 18.11.1962)

Soviet chess composer, International Arbiter for Chess Compositions (1956).
The author of work in chess compositions and critical articles like “Chess Poetry” devoted to the beauty of the study (1961).
Since 1925 he has published about 80 studies, 46 of them got distinctions.

He won the 6th Individual USSR Championship in Study Compositions and was second at the 1929 and 1955 championships.
The most typical motives in his studies were positional draw and theme of the mate.
