Icelandic Grandmaster. World U20 Champion in 1994. Champion of Iceland in 2018, co-champion of Iceland in 1999.

Best results: World U16 championship 1993, 2-4^th; Gausdal Master 1995, 3^rd; Icelandic championship in 1998 2002 and 2004, 2^nd; Excelsior Cup 1997, 2^nd; Mermaid Beach Club 1999, 2^nd; Reykjavik Open 2002, 3-5^th.

A participant in the 1997 World championship and in the Olympiads between 1994 and 2002.

Peak rating: 2563 in 2000. Mostly retired from international chess since 2006, he came back in 2018 to win the national championship. He is maried with the WGM Lenka Ptacniková.
